Someone in Savannah is very serious about their Camry. "Xp" badges, brake-kit, BBS wheels, and plenty of faux carbon-fiber trim.
Judging by all that I bet it could lap The Ring in like 7:40:00 :P

They aren't really serious until they slap on some TRD badges/vinyl.

In their defense, that is about as cool as a Camry can look. it doesn't appear to be overdone.

I won't take issue with people buying and driving Camrys in the first place, because I understand that a whole lot of people in America just want a reliable-ish, comfortable, unfussy car to get them to the places they need to go.
But then something like this happens and I just get irritated. What was done to this car would suggest the owner is loosely aware of automotive trends, and would like others to believe they are interested in or serious about performance or at least the appearance thereof.
I know you sometimes have to play with the hand you are dealt, but this car is evidence of a completely misguided owner. Assuming they bought this car with their own money, there are many other FWD 4D options that would meet their definition of "sporty" much more readily.

Yup...if want a Camry as a hassle free transportation module, fine. If you want a sports sedan get a Mazda6 or an Accord Sport or a CPO 3-setries.

Interesting point, I agree. It's pretty tastefully done, perhaps the owner was sucked into buying a Camry by the Mrs. (or vice versa I suppose...) and is making the most of it.
"Ok honey, we'll get the Camry, but I'm going to spend $5000 on it post haste"!

Dunno but I've seen BBS wheels on TireRack that looked real similar, so I'm gonna say they are probably legit.

I feel this is the kind of person that tries to bring up the fact that Toyota runs an LMP1 team anytime someone questions his Camry purchase.
"You bought a Camry?"
"Oh yeah, most people don't realize Toyota has a great motorsport history. In fact they even race in Le Mans. Technology from that filters down to every Toyota on the road."
"Ok yeah, enjoy your Camry."

Last time I was in Savannah I saw a Vehicross with the Isuzu badge upside-down. Also a few vintage Ferraris and such. I love it there.

How does the Accord Sport (with its VTEC fourbanger) compare to the Accord EX-L V6 in performance? The difference in pure horsepower is significant (almost 100hp), and I refuse to buy a car without leather seats, which don't seem to be an option on the Sport.

I'm willing to bet the owner doesn't have a clue about Toyota's racing history. Dude bought a Camry and tried to make it "cool" by throwing a bunch of money at it.

It's not a bad looking car. Does it drive like a lukewarm bath feels? Sure. But it's a half decent car. Maybe someone just wanted a decent transportation device and wanted to match it to their tastes.

Well you can't get a manual on the V6 in the Sedan body. So that tends to hamper the performance. But it is still a bit quicker (~1 second to 60 IIRC).

They don't make a manual in the new gen anymore. Not even on 4cyls :\

This is one possible scenario. But even then, what other cars are you knocking on the door of for an additional $5k? Probably a lot of better "driver's cars."
I will also allow that modifying cars is fun. But in that moment where you're applying faux carbon fiber trim pieces to the interior of your Camry, there should be a realization that what you are doing is wrong.
You know enough to know how to make a car look like the other cars you like, you should understand that you have no business doing any of that to a Camry.

The V6 is significantly quicker, but I was quite impressed with the 4cyl 6MT combo 0-60 in about 6.8 which is drastically quicker than the Mazda6 6MT

I might've seen one of these before x-x I think it's a Dealership Special Edition.
Comes with a Borla Exhaust apparently. Real BBSes, I've seen an Avalon Sport edition with real BBS before too x-x God bless Southern State dealerships that do this.

It is a half-decent car. It's actually an excellent or even perfect car for a huge number of people. But the changes here imply that the owner wants a different kind of car, and I'm saying that there are plenty that could have been had for the same theoretical money.
The fact that the mods here are borderline tasteful is almost worse, IMO. A riced-out Camry I can just laugh at and not get wrapped up in the meaning, but the car pictured makes me sad. The person knew what they wanted but ended up with a Camry instead.
It's your typical "grounded to the ground" owner, which is what Tom was saying.

If I could swing the fuel costs to run one of those on my 75 mile daily commute, I don't think I would really even look at much else.
Unless we're talking Panamera money or something, but then I don't think I'll ever be shopping that high up the ladder.
